In the special Conservation & Community issue of the American Birding Association’s Birding Magazine, SJV Coordinator, Jennie Duberstein, and Lacrecia Johnson, USFWS Zone Biologist for the Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts, describe the history of Masked Bobwhite recovery efforts in Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. Learn about the revival of the Masked Bobwhite Recovery Team in 2009, which works to bring together people on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border and to guide a process for repatriating/strengthening populations of Masked Bobwhite across their historical range. Read the full article to get the inside scoop on lessons learned, successes, and current challenges the birds and program face.
