Project Description
We propose to develop a strategic Conservation Action Plan for the San Jacinto Valley, California, which will bring multiple stakeholders to the planning process including state wildlife management staff, conservation non-profits, dairy farmers, and local communities and developers. The goal is to develop bird conservation recommendations and management strategies that can dramatically impact the habitat quality for the 19 sensitive species in the Valley including Tricolored Blackbirds, migrating shorebirds, grassland birds, and waterfowl as well as other wetland- and agriculture-dependent bird species. Through the collaborative process we will also work to acknowledge and incorporate the complex needs of humans, agriculture, and birds into the management recommendations and strategies we develop.
